Alacranes Musical (E: Musical Scorpions) has released several albums since its formation in November 1996, and in 2007 was nominated for a Latin Grammy for Ahora Y Siempre and in 2008 nominated for an American Grammy for Best Banda Album for Tu Inspiracion. Their hits "Si Yo Fuera Tu Amor" and "Por Tu Amor" reached #2 and #4, respectively, on Billboard's Latin Regional Mexican Airplay chart. Recently, their new single "Por Amarte Así," a cover of the Christian Castro song, has topped the Billboard charts at number one for several weeks in a row. "Por Amarte Así" has also, according to Billboard, been the number one downloaded ringtone as well."Por Amarte Asi"was featured in an episode of Mexican telenovela, "Al Diablo Con Los Guapos", where the protagonist, Eugenio Siller (Alejandro) dances to the song with Aridane Diaz's character, Florencia."

The Alacranes Musical hail from the Aurora suburb of Chicago, Illinois. The group specializes in a genre of Mexican music known as "Duranguense" or "El Pasito Duranguense", which means the "Durango Step". Duranguense has a fast-paced beat and a cowboy image based on musical traditions from the rugged western State of Durango in Mexico which most of the members are originally from. Many people consider Chicago as the capital of Duranguense because there are so many immigrants from Durango living there. Many believe the musical genre actually originated in Chicago instead of in Mexico. The genre exploded in popularity in the late 1990s and 2000s. Fans enjoy it for its upbeat character and because they can dance very close to their partner. They are the one of the best Duranguense bands.

Alacranes Musical are nicknamed "Los Príncipes De La Musica Durangense" and their concerts are known to be lively and entertaining attracting a large number of women who come to see the Band. They are well known all over the world. Their largest concert drew 160,000 people to the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. They are the best in the genre Duranguense. Alacranes Musical came out with a new single called “Dame Tu Amor” which was featured on their new album Tu Inspiración, which launched in late summer of 2008.

Joining the bill is Mexico’s Pancho Barraza. Barraza’s solo career began in 1995 and in 2002, he hit #5 on Billboard’s Regional Mexican album chart with his album Romanticas De and has a string of hits including “Y Las Mariposas,” “ Te Esperare” and Nuestro Amor.”
